Spiritual Formation International (SFI) is a non-profit organisation founded in 2000 in Vancouver, B.C. Canada and Hong Kong. It seeks to promote a Biblically defined and Holy Spirit energized spiritual formation among Christians.
SFI believes in the activity of our Triune God which moulds our lives into the fullness of Jesus Christ. This likeness is one of deep intimacy with God and genuine compassion for all of creation. The Holy Spirit works not only in the lives of individuals, but also in church as a whole.
To this end, considerable emphasis is put on the teaching of the Word, the transformational work of the Holy Spirit, and the model of saints in previous centuries.
While addressing the rapid sociological, cultural and political changes of our current world, SFI works toward an integration of faith and life. Through a variety of spiritual disciplines, Christians are encouraged to translate the teachings of Jesus Christ into our contemporary world. Action in contemplation, and contemplation in action. This is the life style of Jesus Christ and we believe we are also called to walk in His steps.
SFI believes in the missional aspect of spiritual formation. Spiritual formation is never self-sufficient and individualistic, to the contrary, it aims at stimulating inner transformation of Christians in the likeness of Christ, to love their neighbours and the poor, and ultimately fulfill their calling to be salt and light in the world through living a Christ-like life.
